About me
I am David Martinez and I am a student who is passionate about expressing my creative ideas with Video Games. Currently, I attend Texas A&M University as an Electrical Engineer learning a new set of skills every day to better prepare myself for my future career as a professional Engineer. Nonetheless, even though I get to apply what I learn in class, other ways I exercise my talents is by specializing in Game Development. I am a proud member of the Texas Aggie Game Developers(TAGD) where members get to learn about every aspect about making games, whether it is creating art, music, programming, or design. In fact, this club is a branch of the International Game Developers Association. Perhaps one of the most rewarding opportunities this club has to offer is the semester long game jam it hosts where teams of 4-5 developers create a game and the quality of each game is judged. After my broad experience in this organization, I earned the role as a mentor, meaning that I am in charge of helping new members overcome programming challenges.
To summarize my Game Development journey so far, the main engine I use is Unity and I have grown very confident to be able to utilize many of the features it offers for 2D games. Even though my knowledge on how to make 2D games is vast, Iām excited to step my development journey a dimension forward - I will soon start developing 3D games and even a VR games.Currently, I am participating in the Spring 2020 game jam hosted by TAGD. Even though I started out as only a programmer, I aim to master all aspects of game design. To give an example, I started developing my own music in FL Studio on Fall 2019 so I can use this music for my games. As a goal for Spring 2019, I will begin exercising my art and 3D modeling skills. Besides this, I am also working on an independent project and possibly a VR project very soon.
